why am i losing power on my 99 tiffin allegro rv. it has a 454 chevy engine.?

driving the rv down the interstate for a couple hours was no problem. once we got into redlights and stop signs it would not rev over 1000 rpms or pull the rv at all, especially on any hill or slope but it would not kill the engine. if i let it sit for a couple minutes, it would start right up and act as if nothing was wrong. we repeated this process alot on this trip.

It sounds like a typical fuel pump issue. There is no way to tell when they are going to go, but when they do, you will lose power, especially if you are accelerating hard, or going uphill. Often times, it you shut the engine off and give the pump a little bit of time to ‘rest’ it will start up ok. But when these problems begin to occur, it’s most likely time to change the pump.
It is also possible that it could just be a clogged filter, and you could start with that. But if the problem persists, the pump will most likely need to be changed.
